Hello Adventurers!
I am planning to place the main order this week (probably on Wednesday), but as I was prepping all of my numbers and information for my production partner I kept coming back to look at the Game Master sample.
some level of color shift is to be expected with enamel pins. They never look EXACTLY like their digital designs...but the Game Master was really bothering me.
I tried to be okay with it. I tried to tell myself that it was just awkward lighting. I tried to tell myself that it was 'good enough'. I failed at all of those and so here I am drafting an awkward update.
The short story
I don't like the colors of the pages swirling around her. I am planning to have these produced with white instead of the cream and gray/green.
The Long Story
I still love the original design, but when the enamel baked for the sheets of paper both of those colors darkened quite a bit more than I was expecting. I do not care for how this looks. I think it looks aged and yellowed in a poor quality way and not in a fun old-time way.
My production partner has told me this is as light as they can go with both of these colors and that they are not willing to custom mix a lighter version because of consistency concerns. I can respect that they have internal rules that they are unwilling to break for me, so I came to the conclusion that I needed to change the colors for the pages.
I briefly thought that maybe if I just made them all cream that could work. So I did a mock-up of that and it is better, but I feel it is still too yellow given the amount of visual space it takes up in this design. I think it is actually making the blue read more green as well.
The solution I have arrived at is to have all of the sheets be white. It looks clean and I believe is more in line with the level of contrast that I originally intended for this design.
Having said that I will still be ordering some that use the same colors as the sample because I am sure there are some folks that prefer that look to the white. Everyone who selected this pin will receive the version with the white pages unless they specifically let me know that they would prefer the version labeled as Sample above. The other option is that I can unlock your survey and you can select a different design if you would like, just let me know.
I will be saying this several more times in the next week or two with the hopes that everyone sees this and has an opportunity to contact me if they do not want the white page version.
Please know that changing the design colors is being done as a last resort option. The Sample colors version just does not have the quality look that I want to deliver and I am confident that had I not made this change that the overwhelming majority of you would have been disappointed upon receiving this pin.
If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
Kindest regards,
