I hope that you all are doing well! This week I wanted to provide an update on the production of the Series 2 pins as well as a preview of some things to come later this year.
I just got an email from my production partner letting me know that the pins should be completed next week! Shipping them to me will likely take another week. This means that I should have them in hand by mid-July to begin inspecting and packaging them. If all goes well I will begin shipping before the end of July.
BackerKit will charge your payment method for any add-ons you purchased some time next week. I don't like to let them charge until I am within 30 days of shipping because of how their payment processor's rules are set up.
For those UK backers, I will be confirming what items you are interested in and I will be setting up custom Etsy listings for you to purchase.
Thank you all so much for your support and your patience. I know that when I do large projects like this I tend to be slower than a lot of other pin campaigns. I am looking into ways to streamline my process, but I think part of this is just that I am a very cautious person. The extra step of getting physical samples slows things down considerably, but has also prevented larger problems in the full production, so I don't know that I can really be much quicker given my general nature. But I do very much appreciate your understanding in all of this.
While waiting for the Series 2 pins to be produced I seem to have been doing a LOT of designing, lol. I now have three exciting pin projects coming up later this year! I don't know what order I will be doing these in, but they all should be happening in 2021.
Limited Edition: Double Fox Cycle
In 2020 I did my first numbered Limited Edition pin, which featured a fox, and a tree spirit. This pin was limited to 100 numbered pieces and is now sold out.
This year I wanted to follow up on that design and do another Limited Edition pin featuring a tree and a fox (because I very much enjoy that theme). I ended up designing a pin with two foxes this time. But it isn't just an autumn pin. There will be four separate pins featuring the same tree and foxes, one for each season! I am currently working on Winter, Spring, and Summer.
There will only be 100 laser numbered pins of each design produced, plus two Artists Proofs of each for my personal collection. I will likely do a Kickstarter for complete number matched sets of these to start, and then if there are any left I will list those on my website.
Black Cat Holiday Celebration!
It is no secret that I love black cats. I have a yearly tradition of releasing witch cat pin designs for Halloween. But this year I got to thinking, black cats are awesome all year long. Why is it that they are almost exclusively featured for Halloween designs?
I decided to design Black Cat pins for all of the major US holidays and as a bonus I created the Birthday Kitty (upper left)! I have no idea if anyone other than me will be into these, but I love them and that is enough for me, LOL.
Other Projects
I also have some Travel pins I am working on which feature critters with a black and white compass rose which are shaping up to be really cute.
Also, because I am obsessed with tomatoes every summer I will be making a pin with some sliced tomatoes and a banner that says 'Tomato Life'!
I'm not sure if the tomato pin or the travel pins will be Kickstarters or just something I make and release on my site. Either way I am having a great time working on all of these new designs.
